Institute of Statistics, National Tsing Hua University Master’s Transferring to the Ph.D. Program (Without Completion of Master’s Degree) (Regulations made and approved by Institute of Statistics: September 20, 1991) (Revised and approved on Institute Meeting: September 13, 1995) (Revised and approved on Institute Meeting: October 15, 1999) (Revised and approved on Institute Meeting: September 15, 2005) 1. Regulations are made according to the University’s “Master’s Transferring to Ph.D. Program Requirements”, revised and approved on academic affairs meeting in 1996.
2. The Institute’s standards for outstanding academic standing are: a. Completion of Mathematical Statistics and Linear Models within the top 50% of the class during first year of Master’s study, or b. Completion of Mathematical Statistics in the top 50% of the class during first year of Master’s study, and passing the Probability Theory course offered by the Institute of Statistics or Department of Mathematics.
3. The following documents should be submitted: a. A completed Application for Transfer to the PhD Program b. Official Transcripts from first year of Master’s study and undergraduate c. Two or more letters of recommendation from faculty members
The application will be reviewed by a committee of four or more faculty members with the Institute Director as committee chair.
